Professional Profile
Juan brings experience in architecture and construction, with a focus on K–12 educational projects throughout Southern California. At the start of his career, he worked in different types of construction but has shifted his focus to education design and construction. He has experience assisting with DSA projects, including over-the-counter submittals, and plays an important role in supporting the preparation and coordination of project documents.
Personal Story
Juan Cruz is a San Diego native, born to immigrant parents from Mexico. His passion for both music and architecture were evident from a young age. While in high school and college, Juan’s love for architecture flourished. However, after completing a few semesters in college, he decided to put architecture on hold and pursue his career in music.
Juan’s music career thrived, bringing him success and fulfillment. Yet, his passion for architecture remained. Eventually, he followed his architectural roots and completed his bachelor’s degree in architecture. He continues to be an active musician, using his musical talents as a creative outlet and a wellspring of inspiration.
In addition to his passions, Juan is also an avid traveler. He embraces the opportunity to explore the world, drawing inspiration from different cultures and landscapes. (Photo credit: Rick Marquez)
