From site planning & renderings to upgrades
& new construction.

StudioWC provides a wide range of services to create flexible and sustainable learning environments that support diverse teaching methods for educational advancement.

our specialties

Our in-house staff includes design specialists in school construction, specification writing, funding, civil engineering, and landscape planning. We excel at designing creative new learning spaces that are safe and move schools into a 21st-century learning environment.

Our 3-D modeling and rendering strength provides improved quality control and better communication of our design concepts with the District, staff, students, and the public.

The architects and key personnel on staff are currently and properly licensed to perform the services required to complete design projects. We work to keep a good relationship with the Division of State Architecture (DSA), and act as partners.

StudioWC can provide clients with more complete plans through our vision and experience. This means very few change orders, so costs and fees stay the same. We work extensively with modeling, including still renderings and Lumion. Beyond our standard scope of work, we are also deeply involved in the local areas we serve. We thrive when we are more than just a consultant, but a connected part of the community.

The firm has years of experience helping our clients to understand any physical, environmental, and ecological constraints as well as communicating and planning where everyone will be situated during construction, both students and faculty.

Addressing mechanical systems upgrades, creating wi-fi friendly spaces, creating shade structures and ball parks, making energy improvements, and adding modern safety features such as security entrance gates are also some of the planning services we offer. SWC has also completed many very successful MPR/Performing Arts projects where attention to the acoustics of these spaces is critical, as was each building’s placement and architecture.

In addition,  we have extensive experience in the preparation of CDE and OPSC submittals, including all supplemental grants, such as HPI, service site, off-site, and utility grants, as well as ADA and FLS grants, 50-year old building funding, multi-story buildings, parking structures, and other available grants.

Offering civil engineering as an in-house discipline allows StudioWC to provide the kind of expertise their clients require, yet don’t often get with other architectural firms.

SWC’s civil engineering expertise can determine what level of rehabilitation will be needed during the modernization; if hazardous materials could become an issue and what to do; ensure compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) and resolve whether the age of the existing structure indicates it must be brought up to code.

We have a breadth of experience with sustainable “green” building and energy upgrades. We reuse existing materials where it makes sense, such as existing block walls and salvaged duct work. We also determine when it’s prudent to use post-consumer recycled content, recycled equipment, and appliances, advocate the use of no-VOC paints and LED lighting.

StudioWC keeps an experienced landscape architect on staff who has designed many healthy, functional and attractive school sites that support outdoor learning environments. Choosing trees, plants and ground coverings that are native to the area and are easy to maintain, drought tolerant and pest-resistant are some of the considerations made when designing new landscape. We have also developed relationships with local, experienced landscape contractors who use sustainable construction methods and materials.

Our experience allows us to more fully understand every aspect required to accomplish any type of school project, from lunch structures to comprehensive campuses. We pride ourselves on anticipating your needs and including everything from preliminary planning to close-out of project as basic services.

Being so fully entrenched in K-12 school work, we know that there truly is no such thing as a small project, since every project affects its campus and the students who attend there. That is why every project we do, no matter the size or scope, receives the undivided attention of our staff. Functionality is always at the forefront of our design process, and it serves as the driving force behind all of our work.
