Project Scope

Kindergarten Expansion and New Music Building
Irvine, CA
Irvine Unified School District

“StudioWC is professional, attentive, and truly listens to us, in other words, ‘they get us’. On more than one occasion, StudioWC has gone beyond their services to ensure the success of our projects.”

Kelvin Okino, Executive Director of Facilities and Construction, Irvine Unified School District

The next phase of Irvine Unified School District’s Measure E-funded projects included the classroom expansion and existing building modernization at Plaza Vista K-8 School.

Extensive reconfiguration of the existing classroom building converted the Staff Lounge into a new Kindergarten classroom, while the layout of two existing Kindergarten classrooms was adjusted for better functionality and supervision. New spaces were created to provide an additional Science classroom and new staff lounge. Outside the building, the existing Kindergarten play yard was enhanced with a new shade canopy, an expanded play area, and a new playground structure.

The campus also received a new 4,160 SF classroom building to house the site’s music program, while doubling as a multi-purpose space. Two 1,450 square foot music classrooms were provided, including instrument storage, utility support spaces, and restrooms. The two classrooms are separated by an operable acoustical partition, allowing for flexibility in space utilization.
