The next phase of Irvine Unified School District’s Measure E-funded projects included the classroom expansion and existing building modernization at Plaza Vista K-8 School.
Extensive reconfiguration of the existing classroom building converted the Staff Lounge into a new Kindergarten classroom, while the layout of two existing Kindergarten classrooms was adjusted for better functionality and supervision, and a new Science classroom and staff lounge were created. All interior space upgrades meet current District Standards and Educational Specifications. Outside the building, the existing Kindergarten play yard was enhanced with a new shade canopy, an expanded play area, and a new playground structure.
The new 4,160 SF classroom building includes two 1,450 square foot music classrooms with attached classroom and instrument storage, utility support spaces, and separate gender-neutral staff and student restrooms. A moveable acoustical partition wall separates the two classrooms and allows for flexibility in space utilization.
Project construction is scheduled to begin in June 2021.
