Personal Story

Trista Garcia Silvia grew up in Bonita, California with two brothers and one sister. They were an outdoor bunch, riding three-wheelers out in the desert and boating on San Diego Bay. As a child, Trista’s grandmother had a strong influence on her, teaching her to appreciate nature and love plants.

Trista’s desire to become a landscape architect stems from a summer job installing new landscapes while at University in Boulder, Colorado.

She is raising three boys and, in her mind, getting all of them through college would be her greatest achievement.

Trista enjoys surfing, swimming and walking her dog at Sunset Cliffs. Most of her free time is spent with her kids at their events including band and basketball. When she can find the time  she enjoys time spent with friends or volunteering for the American Society of Landscape Architects, San Diego chapter.
