Project Scope
Whole Site Modernization and Classroom Additions
San Diego, CA
San Diego Unified School District
The whole site modernization of Pacific Beach Elementary School successfully delivered the required spaces in accordance with District Educational Specifications and standards, while improving the relationships between support spaces and classrooms across the campus.
A new four-classroom Kindergarten building was constructed to improve campus circulation and functionality, while also freeing up a centrally located existing classroom that was converted into a new makerspace to support hands-on learning and collaboration.
The existing Administration Building was reconfigured to create a new flexible staff lounge and workroom, additional support offices, and expanded storage areas. The campus kitchen was also modernized and expanded to better support daily operations and student services.
Significant site grading improvements were completed to address multiple accessibility challenges and accommodate the addition of a new fire access lane. The front entry to the campus was also redesigned to incorporate a secure single point of entry, enhancing overall campus safety and security.
