Professional Profile

Of her more than twenty years of administrative experience, Kristyn joined our staff with a background of nearly a decade in operations, facilities, and property management. She has also worked in grant writing, including securing over one million dollars across a six-year period. Her skills have been seamlessly translating into the design and construction world, and she has become a valuable part of our team in a short period of time.

Kristyn is currently pursuing her CDT (Construction Documents Technology) certification through the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).

Personal Story

Born in Grosse Point, Michigan, Kristyn Fleming’s parents moved the family to Yardley, Pennsylvania when she was six years old. A suburb of Philadelphia, Yardley was also close to the Jersey Shore, New York City and still only 12 hours from Michigan. “It was white picket fences, lots of green, lots of farms and lightening bugs in the summer,” she said.

After graduating high school, Kristyn studied business administration at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA for two years.

Tired of the cold and the snow of the Pennsylvania turnpikes, Kristyn saved her money and in 1997 she moved to sunny and beautiful Newport Beach, California. After a couple of months of residence she found a job with Ingram Micro. There she worked on the purchasing teams with PANTONE® for two years and sharpened her administrative skillset.

Kristyn worked for several companies over the next ten years or so, from corporate companies to computer companies to property management companies. She also decided to move from Orange County to Oceanside in 2009, where her parents and sister Liz’s family were living.

Kristyn has been with StudioWC for almost four years now. It motivates her to be part of a team that can design and construct a building or playground or library that will have a profound impact upon its community in years to come.

In her free time, Kristyn enjoys taking spin classes at the beach and cheering on her son Wesley at his youth basketball games. When asked what she’s most proud of accomplishing, her smile warms. “Being a single mom. It’s hard on your own, but Wesley is grounding in a sense. Seeing life through his eyes and experiencing his wonder and curiosity…still it’s challenging. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but I think it takes a state,” she said. “Wesley’s an old soul and a good kid. He just turned 11 and loves NBA basketball. We have a lot of laughs together.”
