Professional Profile
Jeremy Wood is a licensed architect with a Master of Architecture degree and a substantial background in construction and related fields before he transitioned into the design profession. Jeremy draws on his extensive managerial experience to deliver thoughtful, well‑planned design solutions and brings meticulous attention to detail to every project.
Personal Story
When Jeremy was four, his parents moved the family from Orange, California to the idyllic mountain town of Idyllwild. He spent his formative years at that high altitude, from kindergarten through his senior year of high school. His father is a plumber by trade who worked in all phases of construction as well. Jeremy’s exposure to this work sparked an interest in architecture and he started taking drafting classes while in high school.
After graduating high school, he applied to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo but didn’t finish his application, “because I kept dragging my feet about writing the essay.” Instead, he was accepted to San Diego State University, and decided to take his general ed courses, then transfer to Cal Poly.
After a couple years at SDSU, however, he found he couldn’t. “It was then that I decided to declare an art major with an emphasis in applied design, specifically furniture design. At the same time, I took multiple classes in photography, both black & white and color, as it was a passion of mine. I still enjoy taking pictures, especially of nature and buildings.”
After several years of working full-time in management positions, he made the decision to go back to school and get his master’s degree in architecture. “I had always wanted to do it. My family was more self-sufficient, so I could focus more on what I wanted to do instead of solely supporting my family.
After completing hs Master of Architecture, Jeremy immediately applied to architectural firms, eventually meeting with the gracious owners at StudioWC and landing his current position.
“Raising two kids is something I’m very proud of,” he said. “That and the fact I was able to get into this business without the typical architectural experience.”
In addition to his passion for Architecture, Jeremy enjoys snowboarding, Spartan Race, hiking, golf, wakeboarding, and just about every outdoor activity you can think of. “Taking some me time, especially outdoors, helps me to refocus.”
